Kids Crafts: How to Make a Bottle Print T-shirt

By Twila Lenoir

Turn a plain white t-shirt into a work of art with a soda bottle and fabric paints!

What you will need:
16 oz soda bottle, Soda bottle capcardboard (a large cereal box side would work well), Pipe cleaner, Pencil with eraser, Meat tray, Small cap from a bottle, Fabric paints or acrylic paints

Ready:
Cover cardboard with plastic wrap and insert it inside the t-shirt to stop the paint from transfering from one side to the other.

On a large, clean meat tray, pour out some paint in the colors of your choice.

Dip the bottom of the soda bottle in the paint. Be sure to get each of one of the sculpted bottle ends in the paint. Now press the bottom of the bottle onto the shirt to make a flower shape.

Use a small bottle cap to make the center of the flower. Dip the cap into yellow or orange paint and press into the middle of the flower print.

Repeat this process until the t-shirt has as many flower prints as you like.

For the leaves we dipped the soda bottle cap in some green paint and pressed it onto the shirt, next to each flower. Dip the pencil eraser into a different color of green and press onto the shirt next to the first circle of green.

Use the pipe cleaner to make printed swirls. Just shape the pipe cleaner into a flat spiral, dip in gold paint, and press on the shirt in between the flower prints.

You now have a great looking, one-of-a-kind bottle print t-shirt! Turn the t-shirt inside out and ask an adult to heat set your shirt before you wash it.

Craft Idea: Thanksgiving Decorations

These days, Thanksgiving is often squeezed out by the spooky Halloween decorations and lights of Christmas gala. With the following holiday crafts, your family can decorate your house for this quiet but important celebration.

Turkeys are a natural choice for decorations. A project to know this time of year for a child to trace around her hand and make the drawing resulting in a turkey. The thumb is the head and fingers are the tail feathers all displayed. While many turkeys are raised for food are now inside the white variety, turkeys eaten by the pilgrims at the first Thanksgiving were the nature brown. The tail feathers on a wild turkey are brown, but they are iridescent. the capture of light and appearance of this multi-color. That is why children colored feathers of the tail in bright colours.

The turkey was the head of an acacia under the beak. It is a vertical flap of loose skin that is red. Make sure you call this in order to make the main turkey look like a turkey. Add skinny legs and feet of birds. Once completed, children can reduce turkeys and hang on the wall. It is really cute to a whole flock of turkeys in the sizes of all hands in the family. The little hand shapes are particularly mild.

Another beautiful decoration turkey to be done during holidays through crafts is a turkey door decoration. Make a paper construction brown body and the head of a turkey. Now, do many forms of colored feathers. Each family member written on a pen what he or she is grateful to tie before under the turkey's tail. Repeat until all feathers are used, and hang the turkey on the door to greet visitors with a message of gratitude. Make a sign to accompany the turkey that says: "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good!" or simply "Be grateful!" or "We are grateful for you!" or whatever you want.

Children love to make paper chains of construction. To decorate the house for Thanksgiving, let them make a paper in the chain of fall colors as one of their holiday crafts. Using 9 by 12 inch construction paper, cut paper into two in the long side and cut the halves into one-inch thick six-inch long strips. Use a stapler to attach the ends of the band in a circle. Loop the next band in the circle and staple. Continue the process alternating colors brown, red, yellow and orange. When channels are long, you can sheet along the ceiling or stair rail. If you do not make the door turkey, children can write something they are grateful for each strip of paper before adding the chain.
